The best online casinos in Ireland, and how we rank them
There is no single best online casino for every Irish player. Someone who plays a few spins on their phone after work needs something different from a blackjack player who wants fast PayPal withdrawals. What the casinos on this page have in common is that each one holds a valid Irish licence, keeps your balance in euro and is scored on the same five areas.
What we score
Every casino is rated on the same five areas, and the editor's score on each card summarises them:
- Bonus: not the headline figure but what it is worth after wagering requirements, game restrictions, time limits and maximum-win caps.
- Games: the size and quality of the slot library, the live casino, table game variety and whether RTPs are published.
- App and mobile site: whether there is a dedicated app for iPhone and Android, and how much of the casino is available on the mobile site.
- Support: the channels on offer (live chat, email, phone), their stated hours and whether help pages cover withdrawals and verification.
- Payments: euro accounts, the methods Irish players actually use (debit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, e-wallets) and the withdrawal times each operator states.
Licensing in Ireland
Ireland's Gambling Regulation Act 2024 created the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland (GRAI), which is bringing in licensing in stages, starting with betting. Every operator we list already holds a valid Irish licence: a GRAI Remote Betting licence, or a Remote Bookmaker's Licence from the Revenue Commissioners that continues under the Act during the transition. The GRAI does not issue online casino licences yet, so each operator's casino product is licensed separately by its home regulator. We show both on every card, together with the licence holder, the licence number and the date we last checked it against the regulator's public register. If you want to go through the checks yourself, our guide to safe online casinos in Ireland explains how.
Payments and withdrawals in euro
All of the casinos here hold your balance in euro, so there are no conversion fees. Visa and Mastercard debit cards are accepted everywhere; PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay are the fastest options where offered; Skrill, Neteller and paysafecard suit players who prefer to keep casino spending apart from their bank account. Irish law is moving away from credit-card gambling, so use a debit card. Compare every method on our casino payment methods page.
Bonuses worth reading twice
Welcome packages look similar at first glance and differ a lot in practice. A 100% match with 25x wagering on the deposit plus bonus asks for far more play than a smaller offer with no wagering on free-spin winnings. Before you opt in, check the wagering, which games count towards it, the maximum bet while the bonus is active and how long you have to use it. Our casino bonuses page sets those terms side by side.
Games Irish players look for
Slots make up most of every lobby, from Irish-themed classics to Megaways and bonus-buy titles, and most can be tried in demo mode first. Live casino tables and game shows from Evolution and Pragmatic Play Live are standard, and most operators add blackjack, roulette and baccarat in both digital and live form. Browse the full casino games catalogue to see which casinos carry a particular title.
Winnings and tax
Players in Ireland do not pay tax on gambling winnings, so what you withdraw is yours. Casinos must still verify your identity before the first withdrawal, which is a legal anti-money-laundering requirement rather than a sign of a problem. Uploading your ID and proof of address early avoids delays later.
Play responsibly
Online casino games are entertainment with a cost, not a way to make money, and every game has a house edge. Set a deposit limit before you start and use the time-out and self-exclusion tools every reputable casino offers. You must be 18 or over to play.
